Days 5-6: Morning drive to Agra, stopping en-route visit Fatehpur Sikri, a city built in red sandstone by Emperor Akbar to commemorate the birth of his son. Late afternoon transfer to the station for the overnight train to Varanasi.

Days 7-8: On arrival there is time to freshen up in the hotel before visiting one of the most sacred sites of Buddhism – Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon and which has long been a center of Buddhist art and teaching. Known as the City of Light, founded by Shiva, Varanasi is India’s most sacred city and literally thousands gather daily to bathe in the waters of the holy mother Ganges – a dawn boat ride is the best way to watch the city come to life.
